Learn To Snowboard

I finally decided to learn to snowboard and it changed my life for the better. If you are interested in the sport but are afraid to try it, my story could inspire you.

If you are the type of person who is very cautious, then you are just like me. I think it began for me as a child and was instilled by my parents. They were very conservative and not the risk taking types.

In fact, they were very hesitant to drive on the highway and would avoid doing so at all costs. They were a perfect couple in the sense that they were both very phobic and quick to reinforce each others fear and insecurity.

I have been on a mission to try and change my personality to overcome my insecurities. One of the ways I was able to achieve this was by learning how to snowboard.

For many people, learning how to snowboard may not be such a big deal, especially since there are plenty of other sports that are considered to be much more extreme in nature.

For example, sports like hand gliding, skydiving and bungie jumping seem to make snowboarding pretty tame. However, snowboarding was the most radical thing I have ever tried,

In the beginning, I was afraid to learn to snowboard. I even tried audio courses about learning snowboarding as well as watching videos that promised to teach me tricks. I even bought other training aids that taught me how to stand up on the snowboard.

The reality was that if I really wanted to learn to snowboard, I would actually have to just do it. Last year, I finally decided to do just that. I visited a ski lodge and enrolled in snowboarding classes. I took private snowboarding lessons and attended group classes as well. I must say that it was one of the most thrilling events of my life.

When I look back on it, I feel silly that I put off my wish to learn to snowboard for such a long time. Once I actually did it, I could realize just how much fun it was. Learning to snowboard is nowhere as hard to do as I had first imagined.

After going down the slopes a few times with nothing happening worse than a few falls, my fear of the sport quickly vanished. In addition, I was able to gain much more confidence in dealing with my daily life.

Life is short, and sometimes you need to take risks every now and then. If you are afraid all of the time, you can’t really enjoy all he exciting things life has to offer.
